Senior Capstone was held last Wednesday and if you got the opportunity to go you got to see the Senior’s amazing Projects, Apprenticeships, and Internships.

I asked 15 seniors what they wished they would have known going into senior year. Here is their advice.

Project –

Mahala Connor – Project, Aerial Dance Music Video

Mahala split her project into planning, filming, and editing, and her advice to rising juniors and seniors is to keep the mentality that it’s almost over. Senior year is not the year to give up but time to really focus in on finishing strong.

Brooke Stansbury – Project, Crochet

Research how long your project will take before picking your project. Brooke picked crochets and she did not realize how long it would take to make one blanket without any experience.

Issac Grilliot – Project, Two Tables

Don’t do too much. Yes, it’s supposed4 to be a year-long project but there is a limit to how much you can do, and don’t bite off more than you can chew.

Amber Altier – Project, Tattoo

Brainstorm your idea so you know what you want to do.

Apprenticeships –

Arden Montjoy – Apprenticeship, Integrity Animal Health Group

If you are considering doing an apprenticeship then you should be prepared to be rejected.

Carly Aldrich – Apprenticeship, Rick Erwin’s

Pick something that you want to do in the future. Apprenticeship is a way to see if your dream job is actually what you want to do in life.

Nikolai Sarlo – Apprenticeship, Scuba Diving

Nikolai said that one thing he loves about an apprenticeship is that it’s all on you. It is up to you to make sure that you are doing what you signed up for and you do have someone to fall on but they will not do it for you.

Becca Craddock – Apprenticeship, Architecture

Apply for something that you think that you might want to do in the future.

Haydn Thomas – Apprenticeship, Videography

Apprenticeship is great because you learn life skills that prepare you for your future and your job.

Breanna Whitlock – Apprenticeship, Ross & Gray LLC.

Do something that you really want to do and that is fun and what you want to do in the future.

Internships –

Ellis Sargent – Internship, Mosaic

Doing an internship make sure it is something you like.

Luke Wilson – Internship, Grace Taylors

Try to be engaged and be constant, don’t slack off.

Kaitlyn Kothe – Internship, Look Up Loge

Do something that is new you may find that it turns out to be something that you really love.

Kyndal Smith – Internship, Davis Orthodontics

Do something you want to do in life because it will confirm what you want to do.

Joe Durrell – Internship, Hammett Group Properties
