Lunch Rooms Changes

Emma Childs, Features Editor

There have been several changes to the lunch menu at GMC for the 2022-23 school year. Culver’s replaced Firehouse on Tuesdays, and Nate’s had replaced Mextizo on Fridays. However, Nate’s did not work out, so Firehouse is now replacing Nate’s.

Lunch Coordinator, Alisha Wilkerson, said, “Culver’s broke up what several parents called a ‘chicken-heavy’ menu.” I totally agree. There were several chicken options, which is great, but they became repetitive and old quickly.

I have heard some people at lunch say they were disappointed with the change from Firehouse to Culver’s, but I, for one, am excited about the change.  Culver’s adds more food variety in the week by offering hamburgers, cheeseburgers, corndogs, and salads.

When I first heard that Nate’s had been added to the mix, I was slightly skeptical about how it would be, but after I saw the lunch options that were available, my skepticism flew away.  They not only offered sub sandwiches, much like Firehouse, but had different options of Philly cheese and chicken parmesan. I’m sad to say that I was never able to order Nate’s for lunch before it was removed from the menu.

Overall the menu changes this year is great. They give students more to choose from when ordering lunch and break up a “chicken-heavy” menu.
