Poets Corner at GMC is an encouraging club and is located in the art room at 4:00 after school.
Briasia Fowler (11) is the president and Mr. McCollum is their sponsor.
In Poets Corner, the goal of each meeting is to give everyone an opportunity to express themselves. Fowler is hoping the club will help others become more comfortable with their peers. She plans to do this by hosting the club outside as well as in the classroom.
In the club, they roll a die that chooses their prompt and theme. Then, everyone writes their own poem centered around that topic.
The students are encouraged to listen to and include their peers’ opinions into their writing. They are challenged to learn how to improve their writing and communication skills.
Their leader has many activities planned and is extremely happy to see everyone turn the world around them into beautiful lines of art.
