The Forge asked GMC Juniors for their favorite album and it’s no surprise that they went full pop culture. Here’s what we think of Easy On My Eyes by Stephen Sanchez from worst to best!
“Because of You”: Let us start by saying that none of the songs on this album are bad. However, this is one of the slowest songs on the album. It is filled with cliche lyrics and a tasteful ballad melody. The song itself induces a feeling of nostalgia that is not entirely welcoming after such faster tunes.
“Until I Found You”: This is definitely one of the most iconic and memorable songs off this album. After it became popularized on TikTok, the song spiked to 834 million streams on Spotify. But is it worth all the hype? While it is definitely worth listening to at least once, there are better songs out there. His voice is beautiful, and the harmonies are heavenly. Overall, it provides a very cathartic and satisfying experience.
“See The Light”: The instruments in the intro are lovely and his inflection is perfect. It immediately sets an enjoyable tone for the song. The notes he chooses to sustain are wonderfully done. The imagery in his lyrics paints a perfect story and picture. The drum beats before the initial chorus add to this song’s beauty and tone.
“Please Don’t Go Home Yet”: Almost there! Our first runner up is “Please Don’t Go Home Yet.” The song is very calming and uses strings and atmospheric synth to add depth and feeling to the track. His lyrics are beautiful, and you can feel the emotion pouring out of the song. It was truly meant to evoke emotions and that is exactly what it did.
“Hey Girl”: This was an easy pick. The guitar picking in the intro is incredible! It really sets this song apart from the others. It starts off mellow but has a very tasteful pick up around the second chorus. The reverb on his vocals and certain instruments creates a slight attack inside the overall mix. The lyrics and tone really stand out in this song.
