Lillian’s Bracket Picks

Lillian McMeekin, Reporter

with March Madness upon us, I decided to create my own bracket with some more unconventional picks. If you’re interested in seeing a genuine bracket, maybe this isn’t the article for you, but you can check out the bracket created by The Forge’s sports editor, Liam Kemp.
So, without further ado, here are some explanations of my highlighted picks:
  1. The Monstars v. The High School Musical Wildcats
    • This matchup between the star basketball team of Space Jam and the renowned Wildcats from everyone’s favorite Disney Channel classic would be a close call for sure. Ultimately, I think the Wildcats would prevail because they have more experience as a team.
  2. Gryffindor Quidditch v. GMC Blazers
    • As much faith as I have in our beloved Blazers, there’s no way anyone on our Basketball team could survive one spell being thrown at them. Sadly, the Gryffindor Quidditch team has the upper hand here.
  3. USA Olympic Curling v. Class of 2025 PE Class
    • Honestly, this is a pretty unfair fight. One is an internationally recognized sports team, and one is some sweaty 14 year olds in basketball shorts. The USA Olympic Curling team would win this one in a heartbeat.
  4. Retirement Home Shuffleboard League v. Gritty from the Philadelphia Flyers
    • I truly believe that the retirement home shuffleboard league would have a fighting chance here. Sadly, Gritty has youth and strength on his side, along with thousands of adoring fans. Those old people are going down.
  5. Banana Slugs v. Matt from Wii Sports
    • Matt from Wii Sports was here when the universe was created and he will be here when it ends. He is the end-all, be-all of sports players. He could take out every other team in this bracket and not break a sweat. Sadly, the Banana Slugs never stood a chance.
