Every year, GMC seniors are required to complete a senior project or internship. The projects challenge our seniors and provide a significant learning stretch.
The Forge wants to highlight two seniors for their hard work.
Lottie Alexander has one of the most unique projects this year. Her topic for her project is Entomologic Display Art. Lottie uses, “collects, positions, pins, then displays both insects and arachnids scientifically and artistically.”
When asked why she chose this topic she explained that the opportunity to earn experience in this field would help prepare her for her future career. She wishes to pursue a degree in forensic anthropology with entomology as her focus.
Lottie’s favorite part of her project is pinning the bugs. “I like taking something kind of ugly and moving certain parts to make them more visually appealing.”
You can follow Lottie’s journey through her project on her Instagram @lotties_seniorproject.
Ashton Plating has worked incredibly hard on his project. He decided to choose video game design as his topic.
He had previously planned to write a book for his project but believed that he had too much prior knowledge of writing and literature. He decided to find a way to incorporate his book into his project, while still learning a new skill.
Ashton states that he is “enjoying the design parts of the project and the puzzle that programming it is.” He has made amazing progress and works extremely hard to create a unique and fun product.
The seniors at GMC work incredibly hard to make professional, creative products or to learn a new skill set. Their hard work does not go unnoticed!
